Words have oscillating tendencies. When put together, they can condemn the guilty, they can kill the hope of the dreamer, all while having the ability to restore and give life. Words have been accused of having the ability to inflict damage, while also being presented as a healing agent.
In the Proverbs we find that “In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.” We also find that “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.” Which leads us to conclude that words can be equally powerful to tear down and to build up.
What if I told you that there is one event that only speaks of good? What if there was one thing, that when it spoke, spoke about you, and was only good? The Bible declares that Jesus is a Mediator between God and man, the Mediator of a new covenant, a covenant made with blood that in turn speaks a better Word. The Crucifixion is that event.
The Cross was the instrument of Jesus’ Death, though it was stained with the Blood of Christ, it was us who had blood on our hands. When we stood guilty as charged. When the overwhelming evidence declared a unanimously guilty verdict. When we were declared hopeless, depraved, and muted, His Blood spoke a better word.
Friends, its easy to look at your life and oscillate between feeling accomplished and feeling defeated. But the one thing that remains the same. The thing that balances your high and your lows. The thing that speaks over every failure and every success. Is the fact, that the Blood of Jesus Christ speaks a Better Word. A Word that cant be silenced, devalued, or removed.
If you feel like you have nothing to show for your life, I want you to know, Jesus on the Cross for our lives tells a different story. It speaks of how loved, cared for, and valuable we are. There is a word that the Blood of Jesus speaks, and it is only good.
